There are many opportunities for involvement and fellowship at First
Congregational United Church of Christ including:
- Worship (more information at this
link)- we gather for weekly worship at 11 AM - 10 AM in the summer.
The service lasts about an hour followed by a time for fellowship and
light snacks. Child care is available. Our chapel Choir
invites new members.
- Learning - Sunday School for all ages begins at 10 AM during
the school year. During the fall 2006 school year adults will use Bible
Quest curriculum to study hospitality. Children and youth will use the
Bible Quest curriculum.
A weekly Bible Study group meets at 8 AM on Wednesdays.
- Service - A variety of mission outreach activities are ongoing.
Some are in the church facilities such as our Thrift Store; others are
in the community such as Feeding the 5000 Families along with other
Portneuf Valley Interfaith Fellowship mission work; and others are national
or global. We have a separate non-profit organization, the Sophia Foundation
of Pocatello that helps coordinate a range of projects and programs.

- Leadership - Church members and friends are invited to participate
in Church Chouncil, committees and task groups.
- Fellowship - We enjoy each other's company. All can share in
conversation and light snacks after worship each week. Men of the church
meet each Saturday morning at 8 AM for breakfast and conversation. Women
meet 9:30 AM on second Saturdays. Regular pot-luck dinners, game nights
and other fun activities are scheduled.
- We laugh. See the jokes and cartoons in our newsletter and
on our jokes page of this web site. Submit your
favorites to share.
- Outdoor Ministries - these are our outings in parks, playing
ball, hikes and bike rides, and family camping in and near Pocatello.
Along with other UCC churches in Idaho, we own Pilgrim
Cove Camp on Payette Lake in McCall, Idaho.
- Contra Dancing - 2nd Saturday of each month, 7:30 pm in the
church hall.
- First Friday Coffeehouse Acoustic music by local performers
and some nationally famous groups. First Friday of each month during
the school year at 7:30 PM in Pilgrim Hall (gym)
- Newsletter - September 2006 Edition of The
Pilgrim. We can e-mail past issues of the newsletter - see the contact
page.
- Thrift Store The thrift store is located in the basement of
the church and currently has a special Christmas room with slightly
used decorations, clothes, dishes, etc. Store hours are Tuesdays and
Saturdays from 10:00 to 3:00.
