What We Do
There are many opportunities for involvement and fellowship at First
Congregational United Church of Christ, including:

Worship (more information at this
link)
- We gather for weekly worship at 11 AM (10 AM in the summer).
The service lasts for about an hour, followed by a time for fellowship and
light snacks. Child care is available. Our chapel choir invites new members.

Learning
- Sunday School for all ages begins at 10 AM during
the school year. A weekly Bible Study group meets at 8 AM on Wednesdays.
-Special study on Open and Affirming Congregation was conducted 2007-2008
- Special study on Just Peace Church 2008-2009 will continue

Service
- A variety of mission outreach activities are ongoing.
Some are in the church facilities, such as our Thrift Store; others are
in the community such as Feeding the 5000 Families along with other
Portneuf Valley Interfaith Fellowship mission work; and others are national
or global.
- We have a separate non-profit organization, the Sophia Foundation
of Pocatello, that helps coordinate a range of projects and programs.

Leadership
- Church members and friends are invited to participate
in Church Council, committees, and task groups.

Fellowship
- We enjoy each other's company. All can share in
conversation and light snacks after worship each week.
- Men in the church
meet each Saturday morning at 8 AM for breakfast and conversation.
- Women
meet at 9:30 AM on second Saturdays.
- Regular pot-luck dinners, game nights
and other fun activities are scheduled.

Outdoor Ministries
- Outdoor ministries include outings in parks, playing
ball, hikes and bike rides, and family camping in and near Pocatello.
Along with other UCC churches in Idaho, we own Pilgrim
Cove Camp on Payette Lake in McCall, Idaho.

Contra Dancing
- 2nd Saturday of each month at 7:30 PM in the
church hall.

First Friday Coffeehouse
- Acoustic music by local performers
and some nationally famous groups. First Friday of each month during
the school year at 7:30 PM in Pilgrim Hall (aka, the gym).

Newsletter
-
Thrift Store
- The thrift store is located in the basement of
the church and currently has a special Christmas room with slightly
used decorations, clothes, dishes, etc.
Store hours are Tuesdays and
Saturdays from 10 AM to 3 PM.
